The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) is the world's largest association devoted to Human Resource Management. Representing more than 250,000 members in over 140 countries, the Society serves the needs of HR professionals and advances the interests of the HR profession. Founded in 1948, SHRM has more than 575 affiliated chapters within the United States and subsidiary offices in China and India.

The SHRM Chapter at the University of Georgia works closely with the Athens affiliate chapter of SHRM (AASHRM) to connect our student members with professionals in our local community. Each semester UGA SHRM coordinates with AASHRM to attend a monthly meeting and learn more about daily lives of HR professionals as well as get a look at what post-graduate life is like in the HR Industry. In Spring 2019, AASHRM came to one of UGA SHRM's meetings and shared their experiences, challenges, and advice for pursuing a career in Human Resources.
